Room to Heal - Help us rebuild the Glickman Centre

Healing begins in a safe and dignified space.

For women and children escaping violence, a bedroom is more than a place to sleep. It is the first place where fear can ease, privacy is restored, and healing can begin.

Through the Room to Heal campaign, Na’amat Canada is rebuilding 12 bedrooms at the Na’amat Canada Glickman Centre for Family Violence Prevention in Tel Aviv — the first women’s shelter established in Israel.

This is a project Canada helped build. Now, we proudly rebuild it.

Our goal is to raise $140,000 to ensure that every room reflects safety, dignity, and care from the moment a family walks through the door.

We are honoured to announce the
Benny Freedman z”l Match For Hope

Through Holocaust survivor Benny Freedman's Legacy, we have received a generous gift of $70,000 to match every dollar raised toward our $140,000 goal.

The need is urgent.
The impact is immediate.

For more than 30 years the Glickman Centre has provided shelter, counselling, legal support, and rehabilitation programs for women and children experiencing abuse.

The bedrooms are central to this mission.

We stand with Israel- When crisis calls we answer!

Emergency Relief - We Stand with Israel

Moved by urgency and unity, Na’amat Canada is launching its Emergency Relief Campaign under the banner: When crisis calls, we answer.

Your generosity brings safety, care, and hope to families who need us most.

Am Yisrael Chai.

Galim Chapter

Na’amat Galim is the Vancouver Chapter, with its membership comprised of a group of dynamic and interesting Jewish women. We meet monthly throughout the year to enjoy music, theatre, topical speakers, crafts and outreach programs as well as a much-anticipated annual retreat where we enjoy good food, each other's company and plan the program for the next year. The women of Galim are known in the Vancouver community for our Purim Hamantashen Bake Sale and Rosh Hashanah cakes to raise funds for Na'amat projects in Israel and locally. Each year we provide food for the Jewish Food Bank and support families with a Hannukah holiday gift basket.

What We Do

Holiday Bake Sales

To help you celebrate the holidays we sell delicious treats — hamantaschen for Purim, and honey cakes and apple tarts for the New Year.

When the holidays approach, they can be purchased by placing your order online at naamat.com or by connecting with your local Na’amat seller! Watch for our ads.

President's Message

Na’amat Galim, Vancouver’s chapter, was established in 1991.

Our chapter consists of a group of dedicated women, who, despite coming from a variety of backgrounds, all share a common passion for supporting the important work that Na’amat does for families in Israel, particularly for women and children.

Some of our members have been in the chapter for over 20 years while others are new. This diversity helps maintain our understanding of where our organization has come from while allowing us to take on new ideas and to evolve. We are always open to growing our group and welcoming new members.

Our chapter meets monthly. We make sure to keep these meetings interesting by having a variety of speakers and activities. Some of our favourite meetings have included hosting stimulating guest speakers, a musical evening with a professional songwriter, as well as a crafts event with a talented artist.

We also hold an annual retreat where we bond, relax, eat amazing pot-luck meals and brainstorm the upcoming year’s programming and fundraising events and goals.

Although we are always looking for new and creative ways to raise money for Na’amat, we are recognized for our successful annual Purim Hamantashen Bake Sale and for our Rosh Hashanah cakes.

Last year, we were excited to implement our outreach program which included providing a Chanukah gift basket for a needy family. We also made and distributed hamantaschen to the Jewish Food Bank. We have also co-sponsored a movie at the Jewish Film Festival and a book session at the Jewish Book Festival.

We want to thank all our wonderful members for their dedication to Na’amat and for making Galim the great, committed chapter that it is.
