Room to Heal - Help us rebuild the Glickman Centre

Healing begins in a safe and dignified space.

For women and children escaping violence, a bedroom is more than a place to sleep. It is the first place where fear can ease, privacy is restored, and healing can begin.

Through the Room to Heal campaign, Na’amat Canada is rebuilding 12 bedrooms at the Na’amat Canada Glickman Centre for Family Violence Prevention in Tel Aviv — the first women’s shelter established in Israel.

This is a project Canada helped build. Now, we proudly rebuild it.

Our goal is to raise $140,000 to ensure that every room reflects safety, dignity, and care from the moment a family walks through the door.

We are honoured to announce the
Benny Freedman z”l Match For Hope

Through Holocaust survivor Benny Freedman's Legacy, we have received a generous gift of $70,000 to match every dollar raised toward our $140,000 goal.

The need is urgent.
The impact is immediate.

For more than 30 years the Glickman Centre has provided shelter, counselling, legal support, and rehabilitation programs for women and children experiencing abuse.

The bedrooms are central to this mission.

Aliza

Aliza chapter is a fun group of Israeli women in their 70’s who love to sing, dance, and party, while raising money for Israel. They meet every two weeks. We help raise money for Dollars for David and other projects in Israel.

Aviva

Club Aviva is a vibrant group of women aged 60-plus who generally meet every third week, either in Thornhill or North York, or virtually. We have a wonderful array of programming throughout the year, with topics ranging from the fun and light to thought-provoking and informative. Our speakers are experts on everything from creative arts and health to what’s happening in Israel and in our own community. In addition to special fundraising activities, our club sells the annual Mah Jongg cards from October until January.

Beersheba

Beersheba is a special group of women aged 80 and over. They devoted much of their time to fundraising and delivering high-quality programming for members. The chapter has more than 60 years under its belt. Their main focus was raising funds to benefit the children who attend Na’amat daycare centres in Israel. Beersheba members held a signature event, Musicales, featuring fine musicians, including pianists, flutists, and vocalists.

At club meetings, they had other means to raise funds: Half and half draws, Tips for Trips, book lending, and Pennies for Haven.

Daroma

Club Daroma, founded in 2019, caters to a broad spectrum of single and married women aged 65+, living in midtown and downtown Toronto. Hence, our name, which is derived from the Hebrew “dah-rom”; for south. Our members represent a host of professions, interests and volunteer pursuits, none more important than our commitment to empowering women in need and their children, both here and in Israel. We remain active and engaged through fundraising projects, serving on Na’amat Toronto Council committees, arranging cultural outings, dinners, lunches and inviting speakers to address topical subjects. We are always open to welcoming new members!

Dayan

Club Dayan is a Na’amat club that was founded in 1967 and was named after a remarkable Israeli soldier, Moishe Dayan. He was the Minister of Defense during the Six-Day War (1967) and a political statesman. We chose to honour an incredible man.

Our club meetings are held bi-monthly, primarily on Zoom or outdoors. Each meeting deals with either club business or hosting interesting speakers from all walks of life.

Yearly, in the autumn, along with two other clubs, we undertake a major FUNdraiser.

Through the years, Club Dayan has been filled with vibrant women. We are a warm group of members who exemplify the true meaning of “sisterhood”. We welcome new members!

Ilana

Club Ilana has been meeting since 1976. They are a small yet vibrant group of women. Each member brings a wide range of personal and professional experiences to the table, allowing the club to call on their local experts. The chapter’s size encourages these ladies to work together efficiently and enables partnerships with other Na’amat clubs for events and fundraising.

Masada

Founded in 1945 by 12 Toronto women whose mothers belonged to Pioneer Women, Club Masada grew to 90 members in its heyday. Though the majority, sadly, are no longer with us, their legacy as role models lives on through their more than 80 years of dedicated service, enriching the lives of women and children in Israel.

Over the course of their existence, Masada members have been at the forefront of providing leadership, mentorship, fundraising and programming know-how to clubs in Toronto and across Canada.

Notably, two of Na’amat Canada’s most important ongoing fundraising projects, Chanukah’s “Dollars for David” and “Spiritual Adopt-a-Child” (now Support a Child’s Future), were created by Club Masada members. As for leadership, seven of its members served as Toronto Council Presidents and three as National Presidents. Quite the legacy!

Member at Large

Many women who want to belong to Na’amat Canada Toronto, but don’t have time to participate in regular meetings and club activities right now, join as a Member at Large. This is a special category for those who want to support Na’amat social services in Israel and Canada, and being a Member at Large keeps you informed about all Na’amat-related news, events, and fundraisers occurring in Toronto, across Canada, and in Israel.

Rimon

We are a dynamic, fun, and successful Club of career-oriented women, mostly in our 40’s and early 50’s. Our major fundraiser is the production and sale of our insanely delicious Triple Chocolate Matzo Crunch for Passover. The highlight of our year is getting together in the kitchen to make 1200+ sheets! We don’t always have time in our busy work/kids/life schedules to get together frequently, but with several multigenerational Na’amat committed members, we carry Na’amat in our hearts every day! We can be reached at club.rimon@naamat.com if you would like to learn more about us.

Ruach

Club Ruach is a chapter for young professional women! We are a team of hardworking individuals in our 30’s and early 40’s who come together to make a difference in both Israel and Canada. Our own lives are enriched by giving back and through the friendships we create. Club Ruach has organized many fundraising initiatives, including a Hamentashen Bake Sale, the “Go Fish Speed Dating” event, trivia evenings, and more! We enjoy going out to dinners and trying other activities together like cooking classes, clothing swaps, and karaoke!

We are actively seeking new members who would like to collaborate on planning events for our organization and are interested in joining a wonderful group of young women. Email club.ruach@naamat.com to get in touch with our chapter.

Simcha-Kadima

Club Simcha-Kadima members are from the Thornhill and North Toronto area and are aged 60-75+. The club is busy with social activities, interesting speakers, and dynamic fundraising. Social activities include outings together, meetings with good conversation and fabulous food, and speaker events covering topics ranging from Israel to health issues, travel information, decorating, and cooking. We fundraise for our annual Dollars for David Pot Luck Dinner and, most exciting of all, hold our annual Bingo at the Borochov Center, with our 28th annual event in 2026.

Tamar

Celebrate 50 Years with Club Tamar!

2026 is a milestone year for Club Tamar — marking 50 incredible years of friendship, community, and giving. Many of our members have been with us since the very beginning, and we continue to grow together with the same passion and purpose. We are now over 40 members and growing!!!

During the winter months, we meet bi-weekly on Tuesday evenings via Zoom, making it easy for our Snowbirds to stay connected. In the summer, we love gathering in person, including our Outdoor Dinner Meeting. And all year long, everyone’s welcome at our casual weekly get-togethers at the Promenade Mall Food Court.

Our mission is simple but meaningful: supporting the women and children of Israel through creative and collaborative fundraising initiatives. We’ve built lasting friendships while working side by side — planning events, enjoying inspiring guest speakers, and making time to socialize and reconnect.

Along with our successful online events, we’ve happily returned to in-person fundraisers like The Curtain Club Theatre outing and our popular Chanukah Bingo night for Dollars for David.

Being part of Club Tamar and Na’amat is more than just joining a group — it’s about belonging to a community that makes a real difference. We’d love for you to become part of our story, build new friendships, and share in the joy of giving back.

What We Do

Support a Child’s Future

Na’amat Canada’s Support a Child’s Future initiative provides both financial and emotional assistance to children and teens across Israel—from infants in our daycare centres, to middle schoolers in our youth villages, to students graduating high school.

Contributions to this program help ensure access to essential materials and resources—such as educational tools, toys, and enrichment supplies—for those attending our acclaimed facilities, including daycare centres, youth villages, and technological high schools, as well as other vital support services.

While at these facilities, children receive excellent, attentive care and guidance from highly trained staff, helping them build a strong foundation for the future.

This program is especially valuable for teenagers who may be considered “last chance” students, including those who find the regular school system challenging. Na’amat’s technological high schools and youth villages equip them with practical skills to help them transition successfully into the workforce.

We invite you to become a donor—whether through a one-time gift or ongoing annual or monthly support—to help us continue making a meaningful difference.

School Supplies for Kids & Mom’s/Dad’s Bags

Escaping an abusive environment requires immense courage, especially for parents with children. Sadly, many families must leave quickly, often with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Na’amat Canada Toronto provides vital support to children, women, and men in 15 local shelters. Each year, we distribute approximately 1,000 backpacks filled with new school supplies and supply personal hygiene kits for 600 parents living in these shelters.

This project would not be possible without the generosity of our partner, the Borochov Cultural Centre and Kol Yisroel Congregation, and the tireless efforts of our dedicated volunteers who help with the heavy lifting. Their commitment ensures these families have the essentials they need as they rebuild their lives.

Na’amat Canada Toronto Charity Golf Days

Our Annual Charity Golf Days, hosted at the beautiful Lebovic Golf Course, have grown into one of our most popular and successful fundraising events. The fourth annual event, taking place in the summer of 2026, was so highly anticipated that both dates sold out before it was even advertised. Looking ahead, we plan to expand to three days and aim to surpass our previous success, having already raised over $200,000 for our programs.

Dollars for David – Chanukah Campaign

The annual Dollars for David campaign is a cherished Chanukah tradition for Na’amat Canada Toronto. Through this initiative, we ensure that Israeli children’s needs are met during the festive season, bringing joy and hope when it is needed most.

Each of these initiatives is made possible by the generous support of donors, community partners, and volunteers. By working together, Na’amat Canada ensures that children and families — both in Israel and locally — receive the resources, care, and encouragement they need to thrive. Thank you for standing with us in making a lasting impact.

President’s Message

Since the 1920s, when we were known as Pioneer Women, Na’amat Canada Toronto has grown into the city with the largest membership and some of the most dynamic clubs and programs. Our spirit has never changed. We are a welcoming, inclusive, and genuinely fun community of Torontonian women.

True to the meaning of the Hebrew acronym NA’AMAT, we are a network of working women and volunteers of all talents, ages, and life stages. We are proud to be part of the largest women’s movement in Israel, united by a shared commitment to making a difference.

Together, we support and uplift vulnerable women, children, and families in Israel and Canada, while also building meaningful connections with one another.

Our clubs meet regularly across Toronto’s neighbourhoods to plan and take part in a wide range of programs and initiatives. From engaging fundraisers and guest speakers to game nights, culinary experiences, museum visits, and outings, there is truly something for everyone.

For those looking to get more involved, there are many opportunities to step into leadership roles, whether at the club level or within our Toronto Council, which guides broader development and fundraising efforts in support of Na’amat’s mission.

With so many clubs to explore, Na’amat Canada Toronto is a place to build friendships, share experiences, and be part of a cause that is both meaningful and inspiring. Our sisterhood is strong, and we welcome you to become part of one of our dynamic groups.
