Room to Heal - Help us rebuild the Glickman Centre
Healing begins in a safe and dignified space.
For women and children escaping violence, a bedroom is more than a place to sleep. It is the first place where fear can ease, privacy is restored, and healing can begin.
Through the Room to Heal campaign, Na’amat Canada is rebuilding 12 bedrooms at the Na’amat Canada Glickman Centre for Family Violence Prevention in Tel Aviv — the first women’s shelter established in Israel.
This is a project Canada helped build. Now, we proudly rebuild it.
Our goal is to raise $140,000 to ensure that every room reflects safety, dignity, and care from the moment a family walks through the door.

Benny Freedman z”l Match For Hope
Through Holocaust survivor Benny Freedman's Legacy, we have received a generous gift of $70,000 to match every dollar raised toward our $140,000 goal.
The need is urgent.
The impact is immediate.
For more than 30 years the Glickman Centre has provided shelter, counselling, legal support, and rehabilitation programs for women and children experiencing abuse.
The bedrooms are central to this mission.

Kanot Middle School
A building is just walls, until we fill it with opportunity.
At Kanot Youth Village in Israel, hundreds of vulnerable teens find not just a school, but a second chance. Many come from poverty, trauma, or instability. Kanot gives them safety, support, and the tools to succeed.
Now, a brand-new middle school building has been constructed on campus, designed as a “school for the future”. It’s ready… almost.
To open its doors in September 2025, we need your help to furnish and equip this vital space.
Your donation will help provide:
- Desks and chairs
- Science and technology equipment
- Art and music supplies
- Air conditioning, whiteboards, and more

Our Chapters
New to Edmonton? Looking to make new friends? Want to make a difference? Na’amat Canada Edmonton boasts two strong vibrant chapters - Aviva and Tikvah. The women in our clubs share common interests and a passion for helping women, children and families in Israel and Edmonton.
Chaverot
We are a group of women between mid 20s to early 40s who get together approximately every 1-2 months for gatherings. We’ve had movie nights, Shabbat potluck dinners & baking for Jewish holidays. We are passionate about supporting women and children in Israel & locally in Edmonton.
Tikvah
Women between 50 to 65 years of age. We tend to be good friends who enjoy each other’s company at different events (celebrations, coffee meetings, card games, Sunday brunches, Saturday night outings and walks in the neighbourhood), but we are always looking for “new friends”!As you would guess, we talk “shop” or Na’amat almost every time we get together. A core group of us began the chapter over 25 years ago and most have been members and held various roles for the more than 25 years of Tikvah’s existence. Our children went from learning how to crawl, walk and talk to getting married and having children of their own. We enjoy our traditional meetings such as Hamentaschen Baking and a Sukkah Hop just as much as having a variety of speakers, season opening and closing programs, and organizing fundraising activities.We are passionate about Na’amat and its mandate and take pride in being a part of this amazing organization.

President's Message
Na'amat Edmonton is where lifelong friendships have been formed and support networks have been built. Lifecycle events and simchas wouldn't have been the same without the close friends we've made through Na'amat. It is rewarding to know that together, our chaverot help to make a difference to women and families in Israel. As a third generation member of Na'amat Edmonton, I am proud to continue the tradition of joining together to be part of the fabric that makes up our community. After experiencing the Na'amat Leadership Seminar in Israel and seeing the array of Na'amat facilities and programs in action, I feel even stronger in my commitment to the organization.
When you join Na'amat, you will enjoy a fun and lively social environment while helping to fundraise in support of important programs and social services. Our members are daughters, mothers, aunts, grandmothers, and girlfriends who are active within both the Jewish community and the city at large.
We welcome women of all ages to take part in our events and to help support Na'amat services in Israel and in Canada.

What We Do
Cultural Programs for Seniors
As the city of Edmonton does not have a Jewish seniors residence, Na'amat Edmonton has taken on the task to help sustain Jewish culture and traditions for the 30 Jewish seniors at the Canterbury Court residence. Na'amat Edmonton runs a number of community programs for these seniors: When you join Na'amat, you will enjoy a fun and lively social environment while helping. Oneg Shabbat: Biweekly Shabbat services led by Rabbi David Kunin and co-hosted by Na'amat and Beth Shalom sisterhood. A Chanukah Party including candle lighting, a performance by our children's choir and the musical stylings of Dr. Bernie Adler, followed by tea and homemade treats.Purim, Mishloach Manot: Hammentaschen, baked by the Tikvah Chapter, are made into gift packages and are delivered to the seniors delivered by child volunteers. Edmonton Bursaries
Na’amat Canada Edmonton is proud to provide bursaries to single mothers and other women in our province to help them complete their certificate or diploma programs. The bursaries are annual and are aimed at helping women further their education, much like Na’amat’s scholarship program in Israel. For more details, click on these academic websites:
