Room to Heal - Help us rebuild the Glickman Centre
Healing begins in a safe and dignified space.
For women and children escaping violence, a bedroom is more than a place to sleep. It is the first place where fear can ease, privacy is restored, and healing can begin.
Through the Room to Heal campaign, Na’amat Canada is rebuilding 12 bedrooms at the Na’amat Canada Glickman Centre for Family Violence Prevention in Tel Aviv — the first women’s shelter established in Israel.
This is a project Canada helped build. Now, we proudly rebuild it.
Our goal is to raise $140,000 to ensure that every room reflects safety, dignity, and care from the moment a family walks through the door.

Benny Freedman z”l Match For Hope
Through Holocaust survivor Benny Freedman's Legacy, we have received a generous gift of $70,000 to match every dollar raised toward our $140,000 goal.
The need is urgent.
The impact is immediate.
For more than 30 years the Glickman Centre has provided shelter, counselling, legal support, and rehabilitation programs for women and children experiencing abuse.
The bedrooms are central to this mission.

Kanot Middle School
A building is just walls, until we fill it with opportunity.
At Kanot Youth Village in Israel, hundreds of vulnerable teens find not just a school, but a second chance. Many come from poverty, trauma, or instability. Kanot gives them safety, support, and the tools to succeed.
Now, a brand-new middle school building has been constructed on campus, designed as a “school for the future”. It’s ready… almost.
To open its doors in September 2025, we need your help to furnish and equip this vital space.
Your donation will help provide:
- Desks and chairs
- Science and technology equipment
- Art and music supplies
- Air conditioning, whiteboards, and more

Yachad Chapter
Our chapter includes dynamic women of all ages. We share enthusiasm and a strong commitment to the values and ideals of Na’amat through generous volunteering of both time and energy. We meet monthly to enjoy interesting speakers and presentations, and to plan fundraising and special events or projects. Our warm and inclusive members always welcome new members to our chapter, whether you’re a long time Calgarian or new to our city.

President's Message
If you want to be a part of a sisterhood, a club, a family, a network of inspiring women and friends, or even if you just want a girls’ night out – Na’amat Canada Calgary has what you are looking for. We are welcoming and fun! Not only are we here to support women, children, and families in Israel and Canada, but our members are also here to support each other.
Members typically meet once a month at a member’s home. In this social setting, members may take part in a program such as a guest speaker; games night; craft project; cooking class; potlucks, movie night or whatever the group decides to plan
We will also take on fundraising projects such as a casino, E-Mail-A-Thon, concert, movie, etc… where the members plan and execute an event to raise money to support Na’amat’s programs in Israel. Our domestic violence shelter provides a safe refuge and counselling for women and their children, our technological and agricultural schools give a second chance to students who were not able to succeed in the mainstream educational system, and our daycares allow parents to go to work knowing their children are being looked after in a loving and nurturing environment. To keep these facilities functioning we need your help.
We encourage our members to be enthusiastic leaders within the chapter and the community, but you can take on whatever role you are comfortable with. All members in good standing receive the national e-newsletter, and the satisfaction that the work that they do and the funds that are raised are greatly needed and appreciated.

What We Do
School Supplies for Kids
Since the inception of our local School Supplies for Kids program in 1998, more than 26,000 children who have taken refuge in 19 Calgary and Southern Alberta domestic violence and homeless shelters have received a new backpack filled with essential learning supplies. For a child staying at a shelter, this gift offers a bright spot during a dark and difficult time. Oftentimes, children escaping violence or homelessness not only change homes, but schools as well, leaving behind their friends, necessities and routines.
We have been told the backpacks we provide make the transition a little easier by giving them the basic necessities and enabling these children to pursue their education with hope and dignity. These young victims of domestic violence and homelessness have experienced great trauma, and together with your support we can make a meaningful difference in their lives. Annual Bursary
Na’amat Canada Calgary has set up an annual bursary at Bow Valley College, known for its career-focused, practical learning. The bursary is open to female students in their final year of study in the Early Learning and Child Care Diploma program. By empowering these women, we believe children in Calgary will be well taken care of in the future. This program is designed to mirror Na’amat’s work in Israel as the largest provider of childcare services.
