School Supplies for Kids
Since the program's inception in 1998, Na'amat Canada members in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa and Toronto have worked tirelessly each year to ensure that thousands of children in domestic violence shelters have the supplies they need to succeed in school.
Forced to leave everything behind to start a new life, these children and their mothers, often battered and traumatized, typically arrive at these shelters with little more than the clothes on their backs.
Adding to their obvious distress is the anxiety of enrolling in a new school without so much as a simple pencil case or backpack.
The Na'amat School Supplies for Kids program, thanks to the generous support of donors, corporate sponsors and volunteers, fully equips these children with the tools to resume their education with renewed dignity and hope.
