Empowering Children

Daycare Centres

Wherever childcare is needed, Na'amat is there to provide it. Our facilities are located in remote towns and major cities, either close to or even inside the parent's workplace. Our centres welcome Israeli children of all religions and ethnicities.

Na'amat Delivers Top Notch Childcare

As the largest provider of childcare services in Israel, Na’amat operates well over one hundred daycare centres throughout the country and cares for thousands of infants and toddlers from ages 3 months to 3 years. The centres are in large cities, smaller towns, and agricultural settlements. This wide-ranging network allows working mothers to remain in their jobs even when their children are very young.

Multi-purpose Daycare Centres

Many of our children grow up in families experiencing severe socio-economic hardships. Na'amat provides special attention to orphans and children who have been abused, traumatized by terrorism, or afflicted by poverty or other difficult family situations, by offering extended-service daycares. Counselling for both children and their parents and skill workshops such as preparing meals help to alleviate the adversities suffered by these families. Somewhat longer hours allow up to 2,000 children to spend most of their waking hours in a safe and nurturing environment. We call this "pyjama-to-pyjama" service! Read Michaela’s story here

Rhodie Blanshay Benaroch Children's Centre

The smallest victims of violence, the children living at the Glickman Centre, have a place to play - The Rhodie Blanshay Benaroch Children's Centre. This wing of the shelter houses a computer room, a baby nursery, a kindergarten, an audio-visual education corner, a library, a learning centre, and an outdoor playground. Rhodie Blanshay Benaroch z”l was a dynamic third-generation Na'amat member who made a personal commitment to building a safe and loving environment for the children who needed it most. While she is no longer with us, Rhodie was the catalyst behind this groundbreaking project that Na'amat Canada has now built, in her memory.

Technological High Schools

Giving Troubled Teens a Second Chance

Na’amat runs several technological high schools. Each year, these schools give thousands of students, who were not able to succeed in the regular education system, a second chance. In addition to the basic academic subjects, students can choose courses in photography, communications, business management, early childhood education, computer graphics, interior design, bookkeeping, hairdressing, jewellery-making and much more.

All students receive a well-rounded education under the supervision of a dedicated staff who works to instill pride, self-confidence and a sense of accomplishment in all who attend the schools.

Many graduates go on to university or to successful careers in a variety of trades and creative arts.

Youth Villages

Na’amat runs two youth villages (boarding schools) – in the rural towns of Ayanot and Kanot. Together the schools serve a diverse population of over 1,000 students, many of whom come from underprivileged families. Others are experiencing psycho-social or learning difficulties. The students regard these schools as a second home and a place of education and socializing.

Both schools were founded to teach newly arrived Jewish immigrants how to work the land. Today, they focus on giving disadvantaged students the tools they need to succeed while making a positive contribution to Israeli society.

Along with traditional agriculture and farming programs, Ayanot and Kanot offer courses in veterinary, criminology and police studies, in addition to all subjects needed for the matriculation exams and a high school diploma. Students are offered one-on-one and group tutoring as needed to achieve their academic goals.

The schools have seen many successes, including higher than average academic excellence, and achievements in athletic and science competitions. Matriculations at Kanot have increased dramatically since the opening of the junior high school six years ago.

Kanot is also planning an exciting program to bring together STEAM education, aviation and space exploration.

As they learn new skills and get encouragement from teachers and peers, these young people gain pride in themselves and hope for the future.

An interview with Kanot Youth Village senior students as part of the US Convention tour in Southern Israel. This unique and wonderful place, its special programs, and the personal stories of students who see it as home are all truly inspiring. Join the Na’amat USA delegates as they hear first-hand how students feel about their school.

Kanot expansion project

Kanot Middle School Building Project

The Kanot Youth Village has seen great success in graduating high school students who continue on to careers of their choice and contribute meaningfully to Israeli society. In 2015, it became apparent that students in need of the special features of a Kanot education would benefit significantly if they entered sooner, at age 12 (grade 7). Therefore, the middle school (grades 7, 8, and 9) was added. At that time, to accommodate the increase in enrollment, Na’amat Canada, thanks to our generous donors, was instrumental in funding:

  • extension of the dining room with stage
  • new fitness room
  • additional new dormitories

Today, there are 700 students at Kanot, 350 of whom are middle school students, ages 12-15. More than half of the middle school students live in the school dormitories with full room and board. The middle school classrooms are currently in temporary trailers on the site. These learning spaces are inadequate and do not allow for the innovative education that takes place at Kanot.

Na’amat Israel has announced that construction has begun on the new middle school building at Kanot. Na’amat Canada has committed to help fund this exciting expansion project. It will be known as the Canadian wing.

The Kanot educational leaders have envisioned this project as a “school for the future”. Their dedication to the students is exemplary. Na’amat Canada will help this dream come true!
